Fall 2024 State Meeting
KQO CELEBRATES 40 YEARS
This September marked 40 years as an organization. We celebrated our Ruby Anniversary on Friday, September 27, 2024 after a full day of sewing. Our president, Alice Rush, started the festivities reading the history of KQO and recognizing two of our charter members. Nancy Swanwick and Tony Munoz took some time to share their experiences about those beginning years with KQO.

During the celebration members recalled memories over the years. Our newer members learned so much about the organization as the members shared their experiences.

Membership over the decades.
The evening included a game of pass the bag, The Price is Right and Left, Right, Center. Jody Cheatum was a great game host.

We wrapped up our Ruby Anniversary celebrating with cake.

Thursday Check In
The ladies began arriving on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Our workshop leaders, Toni Steere and Kay Walker set up their rooms for the Friday workshop time.

Friday Workshop Day
Toni Steere workshop was titled Tips,Tricks and Techniques. The quilters got to choose from a variety of batik kits to create a 40 by 40 inch octagonal table topper.
Kay Walker led a workshop on Barn Quilts. 13 members created either a 1′ by 1′ or a 2′ by 2′ barn quilt.
The third workshop was led by the KQO member, Lynn Colquhoun. The quilters participated in a Mystery Quilt and learned how to use or practice their skills with the stripology ruler and chain stitching.
We had our UFO space and 19 ladies spent their time working on their unfinished projects.

Saturday Activities
Several quilt guilds brought their opportunity quilts, giving KQO members an opportunity to win these beautiful quilts.
